Cost of Living Task Group
About the Cost of Living Task Group
As one of the first priorities of the Volunteering Action Plan a ‘Cost of Living Task Group’ is being organised. Its remit will be to:
- Review the evidence and understand the impact of the crisis on volunteering and volunteers.
- Inform the leadership roles and support provided by Volunteer Scotland, the TSI Scotland Network, and other partners nationally and locally, relevant to tackling this crisis.
- Develop practical support measures to support Volunteer Involving Organisations (VIOs) in addressing the challenges posed by the crisis.
- Help to inform the UK and Scottish Governments' policies relevant to the support required by VIOs and volunteers.
The operation of the Task Group will be limited to the duration of the cost of living crisis in Scotland.
To support the work of the task group Volunteer Scotland has published research reports on the impact of the cost of living crisis on volunteering and volunteers. Read all reports here

Cost of Living Survey
In order to support volunteering involving organisations and identify areas most impacted by the cost of living crisis we would like your feedback in a short survey.
The survey is aimed at:
- Organisations or groups that currently engage volunteers in any part of their service or function (or that has done so in the past year)
- Organisations or groups that have had to pause any part of their volunteering programme due to the cost of living crisis
- Organisations or groups that have been able to continue to support volunteers
Your responses will help to inform the development of a ‘National Volunteer Recruitment Campaign’ as well as research, policy and practice resources that will support volunteer involving organisations.
